Depending on the season, guests may participate in hay stacking, feeding out hay in the snow, or wood splitting.  (We provide the hammers and wedges!)

The Wilson family had their fourth annual Sorghum Squeezing Saturday, October 2007, in conjunction with the annual Hickory Ridge Festival.  We started squeezing cane very early in the morning. Around 10 a.m. we started boiling the sap into syrup. We used several old-fashioned methods, such as a horse-powered mill and an open evaporating pan over a wood fire.  We made 12 quarts, 26 pints, and 37 half-pints.  To learn more about sweet sorghum, click on the link for the National Sweet Sorghum Producers and Processors Association below.

Flash:  We will NOT be making sorghum syrup in 2009!  Our crop has failed due to the lack of rainfall.  Look for us back in 2010.

Local seasonal events abound year round!  In the autumn there is the Morgan County Fair, a corn maze, apple butter stirring, sorghum syrup making, the annual Hickory Ridge Festival, and Reinersville Trader Days & Flea Market.  Winter offers holiday house tours and an Appalachian Festival.  Spring brings both the Mother's Day flea market and the Memorial Day Reinersville Trader Days & Flea Market, as well as auctions nearly every weekend through autumn.  Summer includes a classic car cruise-in, Civil War encampment days,  an art festival, and a sternwheeler festival.

Come enjoy the local activities any time of year!
